2009: Two shoe brands, one shoe.
Timberland & Floris van Bommel

Floris: "This was a cool partnership. Firstly, of course because Timberland is an iconic worldwide brand and we're errrr... a cute Dutch family business. What made it extra special, was the fact that it was a partnership between two shoe companies. All our other co-operations are with people or organisations from a different industry. Two shoemakers working together on one shoe was pretty exciting.

At the time of this partnership, Timberland was still family owned. In Timberlands Belgian headquarters I met the then CEO Jeffrey Swartz, grandson of Timberland founder Nathan Swartz. Jeffrey found it inspiring to join forces with a Dutch 'local hero' with such a large heritage. He left the creative side of the cooperation completely in our hands. We got to work with our design team and came up with a concept that had a huge '&' symbol in the logo, both on the sole and in the communication surrounding the project. The folks at Timberland were so enthusiastic that we extended the partnership twice. In the end we made a combined collection for a full three seasons.

The Floris van Bommel & Timberland shoes were sold through our dealers and worldwide in all Timberland brand stores."
