The Van Bommel Foundation was established in January 2026 and continues the Beyond Barriers project, which was launched by Schoenfabriek Van Bommel in January 2025. Through this project, the foundation supports the Batwa community in and around Rubuguri, Uganda, with a particular focus on improving access to education and healthcare, as well as supporting pregnant women and young mothers. The aim is to create more opportunities, stability and prospects for the future in a sustainable way. On this page, you can read all about our activities.
Images & Privacy We are closely involved in this project and maintain regular contact with both the local project team in Uganda and our partner organization in Kenya, which oversees the project on a daily basis and plays an active role in its development. Because we deeply care about the well-being and personal circumstances of the people participating in the program, we have consciously chosen not to use photographs or other images of participants or their immediate living environment, even in anonymized form. In doing so, we aim to protect their privacy and treat their personal circumstances with the utmost care and respect.
