Suede, nubuck and textiles should never come into contact with shoe cream
Printed leather Leather with graphic prints is more challenging to maintain than regular smooth leather. Sometimes it is essential to preserve the nuance in the leather, whereas sometimes, it may need maintaining or strengthening. Generally speaking, transparent care products are best. There are various sprays, creams and shampoos available for refreshing and revitalising printed leather.
Combined materials Each type of material on a shoe must be treated according to that material's specific care needs. Most importantly, suede, nubuck and textile must never come into contact with shoe cream. This results in splotches that are difficult to remove. On the other hand, suede/nubuck sprays are not massively harmful to leather and textiles. For shoes that consist of different coloured leather areas, a transparent shoe cream can be used for all of them. If the leather does need to be treated with a coloured shoe cream at any point, each area should be treated very carefully with a matching shade of shoe creme.
Neutral leatherFor some finishes and results, a neutral piece of leather is used as a starting point. Neutral leather can be processed and coloured, but the core of the leather will always remain neutral. If the top layer of this type of leather gets damaged, this can result in scratches. As the leather directly underneath the top layer is neutral, the colourless core will show through in any scratches. Minor scratches are easy to treat with a regular shoe cream in a matching shade. For larger damaged areas, we recommend that you visit your shoe dealer or local cobbler to obtain their personalised recommendation for a suitable treatment plan.
