"I have many great Christmas memories. Like the one when I was 7 and somehow used my cat-like reflexes to pull my brother Pepijn’s highchair away from the dining table. The paper tablecloth was on fire thanks to the leaking paraffin stove under the fondue pan. Exactly how Christmas should be, of course. You’re hoping for the perfect evening, and things turn out a little differently every time. I never saw the pan of boiling oil on our table again after our minor house fire. Still, we haven’t banned all Christmas risks from our family: we all love glass Christmas baubles. Plastic ones are banished. Every year, I treat my parents and brothers to a new set of baubles. This Christmas bauble is one from our selection for this year. I did look around for a bauble in the shape of a burning fondue pan, but alas. Merry Christmas and be careful!"
