Floris: “For two months in the spring of 2019, pink candy sneakers mixed in with Autodrop's pink Cadillacs. All the boxes – and in those days I found out that the Dutch go through quite a lot of those in a few weeks – contained our little sneakers. This candy sneaker was modelled after a real-life limited edition 'Floris van Bommel & autodrop sneaker’. It turned out to be a huge campaign with all kinds of give-aways and loooooads of candy.
The original plan was to make our sneakers blue, and give them a different flavour. That would've been even more fun than mixing in pink sneakers with the already pink Cadillacs. In the end though, it turned out that the Pink Cadillac box would be considered a new product and that would cause trouble with supplying it to supermarkets, drug stores and gas stations. We did make a gazillion small sample bags that did contain the little blue sneakers though. I got to personally pick the taste for them, and in the press release I wrote this about that process:
"Finally, I've been allowed to go on a sweets journey! In Autodrop's candy factory, I was allowed to taste for as long as I needed until we found the new taste for a blue sneaker candy. I ended up going for... Pineapple! It gave me an immediate blast from the past, straight from 't Winkeltje, my childhood candy store. Pineapple is probably not the most logical choice to go with the colour blue, but hey, aside from Gargamel nobody knows what blue really tastes like anyway."
